My Daily “Go-To” Makeup

Standard

Good morning everyone! I have had so many ask me what do I use, what are my favorites for myself, what are my favorites for my clients…finally, I’m responding with answers. This whole week, I will be featuring one of my favorite elements of my kit every day. By the end of this week, you will know all my secrets. Lol! Sorry for the wait but I hope you enjoy!

I’m not 100% sure where to start, so I’ll start with my brushes! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Morphe Brushes & Vicky Secrets (believe it or not) brushes. The black case is my Morphe 12pc sable brush set. Purchased over a year ago And still in great condition! The “Kiss and Makeup ” case houses my Victoria’s Secret 5 pc travel brush set aka the softest brush set ever! They work so well and have also stood the test of time!

Cleaning:
I clean my brushes with 90% alcohol from my local grocery store (about $1.50 a bottle) and it safely and gently removes product without damaging the bristles.

1. Pour alcohol into small bowl or cup and put your brushes upside down in the liquid (soiled brush tip should be in alcohol)
2. For shadow/powder brushes, soak for 5 minutes. For concealer/cream product brushes, soak for 10 minutes.
3. Use small cloth (wash cloth is fine) to wipe the wet brush until it is dry. The alcohol both removes product and disinfect so it’s a one step cleaning project. Quick and easy.
4. Store brushes in cool, dry location and they’re ready for next use!

Today’s focus was my beloved brushes. Without them, I couldn’t do makeup..literally lol. I’ve rambled enough, now go show your brushes some love! See you tomorrow!

Dark skin, Red Lips Tribute

Standard

Karyn Washington, the beautiful founder of “For Brown Girls” and the “Dark Skin, Red Lips” project has died from an apparent suicide at the tender age of 22. Anyone who followed her on YouTube knows that she dedicated her life to the uplifting of dark-skinned black women, in hopes that they would love, accept, and feel comfortable with themselves.

In honor of our late diva and her  respective project, this is My” Dark Skin, Red Lips” tribute..Ladies and gentlemen, be confident with yourself regardless of what anyone has to say about you. People in this world are cruel and they will tear you down if you let them…so don’t! Always know your self worth and before you love anyone, you have to learn to love yourself. As a brown skin woman who struggled with my self-esteem for many years, I appreciate Karyn and others like her for showing us how to love ourselves. You will truly be missed Angel. 💔RIP

Sunday FunDay Makeup !!

Played around in my makeup palette yesterday and this is what happened. I told myself yesterday morning, “I’m gonna do some neutral makeup today” -_- apparently my spur of the moment imagination had other plans. Anastasia brow pencil with Morphe concealer around brows. Eyeshadows from my coastal scents 252 palette of course. Lashes by Kiss (purchased at Walgreens) and LashGrip lash glue. Morphe 10 concealer also used for face and on lips is NYX Aria and MAC Frost right in the middle of my lips. Morphe 10 blush palette used for cheeks and eyeliner is Morphe gel eyeliner….I think I included everything this time 🙂 eyebrow tutorial coming to my YouTube soon because I’ve had quite a few requests. Mwah! Hope you LOVE!!!❤️❤️❤️😍

Satterday face hunty!

Satterday face hunty!

So now that I am finally feeling 100%, I am back in my groove: colors, lashes and all! Decided to expose my funkier side and do this mix of colors. Of course the eyeshadow colors all originate from my Coastal Scents 252 palette! My brow pencil is by Anastasia in the shade dark brown and around my brows is concealer from my Morphe 10 concealer palette. Lashes are unknown lol they were a gift but I used LashGrip lash glue. To highlight and contour, it’s Morphe 10 concealer palette still and blush from my Morphe 10 blush palette. Lipstick is NYX matte lipstick in Aria and MAC in Frost in the center or my lips. Mwah!

HumpDay Makeup

HumpDay Makeup

Today has certainly been a day for the books!!! I fainted in my kitchen earlier today and I’m not sure of how long I was unconscious or if anything broke my fall. Minus a few bruises and a sore body, I’m doing fine. I used this down time, (doc is saying minimal activity for the next 24 hrs) to create today’s makeup look based off of a pic from one of my fave Instagram MUAs, the beautiful Miss @EllArie. I made mine a bit more dramatic by adding a deep purple not just in my crease, but blending it all over my upper eyelid. Hope you guys LOVE my “Passed Out Day” Makeup -_- Now I will sit in this bed for the rest of the day with a beat face, and sore back unable to leave this bed lol. Mwah until mañana!

Makeup of the day: “Purple Splash”

Standard

I cannot pinpoint any ONE inspiration for the look I did today. I just opened up my palette and picked the three colors that stood out to me the most. I used a bronze-ish gold, purple shimmer and burnt sienna eyeshadows. I lined my upper eyelid with L’oreal telescopic precision eyeliner (black). I did my eyebrows with a Maybelline eyebrow pencil in the colored smoldered chestnut and “concealed” around them with NYX eyeshadow base in the shade ESB03-Beige. I dabbed LA Colors Blush in the shade “Natural” on the apples of my checks and those flecks of shimmer are a thanks to my bronzer.

Success Starts In The Mind

Video

I’m thinking success so I will succeed!
While I am flattered at the times when someone praises me for being where I am, I never get too caught up that I forget where I’ve come from and where I’ve been. I call them “Bouts with Doubt” when your mind is playing tricks on you and fools you into believing that you can’t really do what you want to do. It’s a trick that we all fall for at one time or another. Here is how I get out of those ruts and push forward to the next chapter.

Yes you can
Yes you will
You will what?
You will succeed.
You are a success story.
